Talking I am new and need some info please

Ok. First off Hi everyone..

My cousin plays Guild Wars and I play WOW.
We were discussing the two games and he mentioned that there is a trial as there was for WOW(which is how I got hooked on wow) so I googled it and found a site to download the trial version and I did and I played till the time elapsed for the trial which was 10 measly hours. And I actually only played for 4 hours but i guess I hadn't logged off and it ate up all my time.

Anyway since I liked what I saw I went out today and bought Guild Wars Eye Of The North. I looked for the origional or the first release but could only find Eye Of The Norh.

Now I just noticed that it is an expansion. My question is,, can I just add that to the trial version that I used(I didn't uninstall it when my trial was over) or will I need to find/buy the origional?

I am hoping that I can just add it but before I even open the package (they won't accept a return if it is opened) I'd like to know if anyone knows if I can do that.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Eye of the North is an expansion. You have to have one of the campaigns (Prophecies, Factions or Nightfall) to use it.

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can add it to a trial version.

You need to buy Prophecies or Factions or Nightfall.

quickmonty is right you need a full version of the game to be allowed access into GW:EN.

There are 3 campaigns; Prophecies (the original), Factions, and Nightfall.

Eye of the North is an expansion to any one of those. The trial you played was probably a Prophecies + EotN or an all-encompassing trial. Either way, you need one of the campaigns to play EotN.

You might also want to ask your cousin which chapter he plays. (Prophecies 1st, Factions 2nd, or Nightfall 3rd) If he only has one of these chapters and you go get a different one, you two will not be able to hook up in game. If he has prophecies (the first installment of guild wars), I'd say keep the expansion and find Prophecies for cheap and add the 2 together.

Note: Install the campaign game first, then add the key for the EON expansion to that account.

I don't think its important what order you add the keys, so long as you do add the appropriate keys(ie one of the campaigns + the expansion). EoTN being the expansion however, may not allow one to add it to an account without one of the campaign keys there first. And even if you could, you still can't play until you add one of the campaign keys.

If/when you do get Prophecies/Factions/NF you cant add it to your existing account if you want to keep the progress you made during the trial.

So basiacally I won't be able to use my "Cherris" character since I started her in the trial version? I was hoping it would be like WOW. I had the trial installed and I went out and bought the one I had the trial for which was the origional and the expansion but didn't have to re-install the origional that I bought. I just installed the expansion over the trial version and I was good to go..
I wanted to keep my Cherris character.
Well I have nothing to lose so am going to try and install the expansion over the trial version and see what happens. Will let you know if it works.. hehe

When you get a full version of one of the stand alone chapters you can add that key to your trial account. Be sure that you get the chapter that your 'Cherris' character was made in. I.e. if it was made in Cantha, get factions.

Do not create a new account, just add the keys to it and you'll be all set
